In the blink of an eye, release day for The Gila Wars (Josiah Wolfe, Texas Ranger #6) is a week away. It kind of snuck up on me.
I signed the contract for the first two Josiah Wolfe books in June, 2008, and there hasn't been a time between then and now when I haven't been working on a Josiah Wolfe project. Either writing or promoting, usually both at the same time, all the while maintaining my indexing projects. Until now.
Once The Gila Wars releases, that will end this cycle in my career. I have no more Josiah Wolfe projects on my schedule. For all intents and purposes, this is the end of the series. Or, at least this phase of the series. I'm 52, and I hope I have plenty of years ahead of me. Never say never. There might be more Josiah Wolfe novels in the future, or novels set in Josiah's world with other lead characters. There's plenty of ideas and history to explore. It's hard to say what I'll be writing in ten years.
Right now, I'm immersed in the world of Lucas Fume, my new character that will debut in late 2014. There will be at least two books in that series. After writing all six Josiah books sequentially, it's nice to have a break. It's exciting to be writing something else, something new, something fresh (I hope). But maybe that's all this is. A break. Who knows? Maybe Josiah will live to ride another day.
Book signings will be held at:
05/07/2013 — 5PM to 8PM Barnes and Noble Booksellers 17090 Mercantile Blvd. Noblesville, IN
05/11/13 —2PM to 4PM Books-A-Million 5750 W 86th St, Ste 120, Indianapolis, IN
