Top of the Lake — We finished watching the first season of Top of the Lake, a moody police-procedural set in New Zealand. Not for the faint of heart. Gorgeous scenery. Top-notch acting, especially by Elizabeth Moss of Mad Men fame. Jane Campion wrote and created it, so it features some powerful women, and some fallible men. We liked it. A lot. This is something that you’ll never see on network TV in the states (nudity, language, sex, oh my). Highly recommended. Seven episodes. Abuse of power in a small town setting. Could have been a western if you drop it back in time a hundred and fifty years…
