It has been my pleasure and honor to serve as the WF Awards Chair for the last three years.  It has always been my belief that the more awards there are to honor traditional Westerns, the better.  Awards demonstrate the health of a genre, and encourages new writers to join in, thus preserving the genre for us all.  It is my hope that these awards, and others in the genre, continue to grow and prosper.  Westerns are truly the jazz of literature, the only genre American can claim as its own.  Everyone who entered the WF Peacemaker Awards contributed to the entire Western genre, and should be proud of your efforts.

Congratulations to the winners and the finalists.  Enjoy your day.  And thank you judges, this year and the years past, for doing an outstanding job.  The awards wouldn't be possible without you.

Best,

Larry D. Sweazy
